Rural Public Space, workshop WDkA/TekTao

In April, 2009, Studio TAO held a workshop together with students and mentors from Rotterdam University, The Netherlands (the Dutch team consists of students from Williem de Kooning Academie, International Product Design School and School of Architecture and Urban Design). Gunter Wehmeyer was, amongst others,  involved as workshop leader in the two week research on location in Chongming Island and Shanghai. The topic of the workshop was “Rural Public Space: A Definition of Typologies” and all the students were divided into 4 groups focusing on master plan, landscape, community and ecology. After the two-week workshop, a presentation was given to the Vice Mayor of Chongming Island and an exhibition followed up in May. The workshop was supported by the Chongming Municipal Government, Shanghai Creative Industry Center, Studio TAO,S-point Design and Desis-China platform. The particpation students were from the Rotterdam WdKA acdemy, departments industrial design and the school of Bouwkunst (IPO).
